Family is a social system in which any disorder of the members creates new problems. One of the factors affecting the family system is the disability of the children. This study aimed to investigate the effect of stress-coping training on increasing the quality of life of parents of autistic children in Bushehr. This research was a semi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test designs with control and experimental groups. The research population was parents of children with autism in 2018, of which 40 were selected by convenience sampling method and randomly divided equally into two groups. The stress-coping skill was trained for the experimental group, but no intervention was given to the control group. The groups were evaluated in terms of life expectancy at the pretest and post-test stages. Data were analyzed by SPSS-19 software and multivariate analysis of covariance. The findings showed a significant difference in the quality of life between the experimental and control groups. In other words, training stress coping strategies increased the quality of life of parents of children with autism in Bushehr city (P <0.001). If stress-coping skill is trained for parents of children with autism, many of the problems in these families can be prevented, and they are planned to improve their quality of life. Therefore, families, counselors, and therapists can use the stress-coping skills method for the treatment and rehabilitation of children with autism and their parents.
